Cellular Blinds/ Honeycomb Blinds are also a popular solution as they offer both practical application, flexible aesthetic options and they offer exceptional insulation properties that keeps your home warm in winter and cool in summer. The unique honeycomb structure provides a contemporary striking look whilst providing efficient insulation by trapping air within the honeycomb cell, helping you save on heating and cooling.

Honeycomb blinds can be installed as a standard blind or with the additional functionality called Top Down, Bottom Up. This allows the blinds to be raised from the bottom up or the top down – the ultimate control of both light and privacy. Visit our Brighton showroom if you’d like a demonstration of the unique Top Down, Bottom Up functionality.

Cellular blinds are also very compact, stacking up very neatly at the top, which maximises light entering your home and blending in with the frame. When installed inside the recess the light bleed around the sides is minimal (much less than a roller blind) which provides better blockout in bedrooms. They’re great for windows of all shapes and sizes including skylights.

Our Honeycomb Blinds come in a huge range of blockout and light filtering fabrics as well as cell sizes (10mm, 20mm, 30mm) and cell thicknesses (single/ double).

Luxaflex are still the market leader in honeycomb shades, offering single cell, double cell and triple cell for the ultimate level of insulation.

When shopping for Honeycomb blinds, pay attention to the product’s “R-value” which is a measurement of its ability to resist heat flow. In a home during winter, R-values indicate the ability of walls, roofs and windows to keep the heat inside. The higher its R-value, the more insulation a product provides.

What our clients say…

Great service, above and beyond.

I asked Nicholls Interiors to match a Luxaflex blind I’d purchased from them ten years ago. They did! Experience was seamless and so is the blind 🙂 Smooth, quiet and unobtrusive yet effective. I can highly recommend Nicholls Interiors and Luxaflex. Melinda Kerr, January 2020

Common questions about Cellular Blinds -Luxaflex Duette Shades

How much does a Luxaflex duette cost?

There are a lot of factors that affect price – see our summary of pricing variables and options

Why would I select a Luxaflex duette shade?

Still the market leader in honeycomb blinds, the Luxaflex Duette Shades series is unrivalled when it comes to elegant window coverings that keep your home warm in winter and cool in summer.

There are many reasons to choose a Duette Shade for your home. Apart from the extensive fabric range and their versatility throughout the home, Duette Shades have many other qualities that make them a perfect inclusion for almost any room. The unique honeycomb structure of Luxaflex Duette Shades provides a contemporary striking look whilst providing efficient insulation by trapping air within the honeycomb cell. The versatile design caters for arches, angles, and skylights.

Exclusive to Luxaflex Window Fashions; Duette Architella Shades, features a honeycomb-within-a-honeycomb structure for superior energy efficiency, which reduces heat loss in Winter and keeps your home cooler in Summer.

How can I reduce my heating costs in winter?

The Luxaflex Duette can reduce your heating costs by up to 43%

Most of your home’s energy is lost through windows. Research has revealed that up to 30% of total heat loss from your home occurs through uncovered windows. The Luxaflex Duette Architella significantly improves energy savings versus the uncovered window.

During winter there’s an immediate reduction in radiant heat loss to the cold window glass, and people feel warmer. Here’s how it works: All people and objects give off and receive radiant heat. When significantly more is given off than they get back to cold glass, it can feel like a chilly draft, even if the window is tightly sealed. When people lose enough radiant heat to feel uncomfortable, they will typically turn up the thermostat, consuming energy resources and adding utility costs – but a well-insulating shade can counteract all this.

How can I reduce my cooling costs in Summer?

Similarly to the explanation above… in Summer the reverse effect is seen. The pockets of air traps and blocks incoming heat, keeping the home cooler inside.

Is the Luxaflex Duette a practical option in a home cinema/ media room or theatre room?

Yes – Sound energy is absorbed within the cell, dulling exterior noise by up to 55% even with Translucent fabric. The Luxaflex duette can be used allowing light to enter your home or with a blockout while keeping noise at bay.

How does a top down/ bottom up Duette work?

This operation means you can lower the blind from the top down allowing light and providing a view, while maintaining privacy. This is perfect for street facing windows, walkways, bathrooms or anywhere you need privacy in the lower section of your windows.

What blind can I use to cover my skylight window?

The Luxaflex duette blind and the Verosol pleated blinds are both great options for a skylight window. The Luxaflex skylight blind runs on side channels. The Verosol pleated blind has a silver reflective backing to reflect the heat and has fine wires for operation. We have both products on display in our showroom and both are available in manual or motorised options.

Are Duette blinds completely block out?

The Luxaflex duette blind provides very good blockout. There is only a 5mm gap from the end of the blind to where the fabric starts (which is about 5 times less than a roller blind!). If the slither of light down the side is still too much light for you the Duette LightLock Shades have been created to help you outsmart the sun and enjoy a better night’s sleep. They feature a unique U-Shaped side channel designed to absorb, deflect and block incoming light from seeping through into the room. LightLock blends seamlessly into the window frame preventing light leakage that is inherent with all reveal mounted blockout blinds and is a perfect solution for bedrooms, nurseries and media rooms, where maximum darkness is required.

How do I clean my Luxaflex Duette blinds?

Duette Shades are made of anti-static, dust-resistant fabric which repels dirt and dust. For most Duette fabrics, the following cleaning options are available.

  • Dusting: Regular light dusting with a feather duster is all the cleaning needed in most circumstances.
  • Vacuuming: For more thorough dust removal, vacuum gently with a brush attachment.
  • Compressed air/hair dryer (cool setting): Use compressed air or a hair dryer on a cool setting to blow dust and dirt off shades.

Do not vacuum Elan, Myst and Ménage translucent and blockout fabrics.

Do not spot clean Alexa, Elan, India Silk, Leela, Ménage and Aurora fabrics.
