Sheer Curtains Melbourne
Sheer curtains are a popular choice for Melbourne homes, bringing softness, natural light and effortless elegance to any space. Available in classic whites, textured linens and contemporary fabrics, sheer curtains gently filter daylight while maintaining privacy—creating a calm, airy atmosphere throughout your home.
For a practical and stylish solution, many Melbourne homeowners pair sheer curtains with blockout roller blinds. During the day, sheers diffuse natural light while preserving privacy, and at night, blockout blinds provide complete light control and insulation when needed.
At Nicholls Interiors, we offer a curated selection of premium sheer curtain fabrics to suit every style. Frequently Asked Questions About Sheer Curtains
-
This is completely up to you! The most common selections are approx. 10mm off the floor, skimming the floor or puddling on the floor.
-
The most popular heading styles for sheer curtains are S fold, wave fold, pencil pleat, maxi gather and inverted pleat.
-
We love linen and use it every day. However it is important to understand how linen behaves. It is a natural fibre and will move over time. We suggest puddling your curtains by 1-2cm so you don’t notice this movement.
-
The standard fullness for a sheer curtain is 250% for most heading styles and 220% for an S fold heading. You can increase or reduce this fullness depending in the fabric selection, aesthetic preference and budget. For example a very fine organza sheer may be increased to 300% fullness and a more dense linen curtain down to 200%.
-
Sheer linen curtains can be installed face fit onto the wall or top fix into the ceiling. They can be installed on standard styeline tracks which are designed to never be noticed or on decorative rods/ tracks to make a feature of them.
-
We suggest having a professional come and clean them while installed or consult an expert drycleaner who specialises in curtains. Make sure you make the cleaner aware of the fabric composition so they can give you the best advice (and discuss the possibility of shrinkage).
