Honeycomb Cellular Blinds Melbourne
Cellular Blinds, also known as Honeycomb Blinds, are increasingly popular for both their performance and contemporary aesthetic. Their distinctive honeycomb structure traps air within each cell, creating an insulating barrier that helps keep your home warmer in winter and cooler in summer, reducing reliance on heating and cooling.
Beyond energy efficiency, cellular blinds offer a clean, architectural look with practical versatility. They are available with flexible operating systems, including standard and top down bottom up configurations, and come in a wide selection of cell sizes, styles and colours. Their adaptable design allows them to be customised for arches, angled windows and skylights, while neat stacking at the top maximises natural light when fully raised. They are also simple to maintain, making them well suited to everyday living.
Luxaflex remains a market leader in honeycomb blinds, offering single cell and double cell constructions for enhanced levels of insulation.
When selecting honeycomb blinds, it is important to consider the product’s R-value, which measures its resistance to heat flow. In winter, higher R values indicate greater ability to retain warmth within your home. The higher the R value, the stronger the insulation performance.

Operating Honeycomb Blinds
Honeycomb blinds can be installed as a standard blind or with the additional functionality called Top Down, Bottom Up. This allows the blinds to be raised from the bottom up or the top down – the ultimate control of both light and privacy. Visit our Brighton showroom if you’d like a demonstration of the unique Top Down, Bottom Up functionality.
Cellular blinds are also very compact, stacking up very neatly at the top, which maximises light entering your home and blending in with the frame. When installed inside the recess the light bleed around the sides is minimal (much less than a roller blind) which provides better blockout in bedrooms. They’re great for windows of all shapes and sizes including skylights.
Our Honeycomb Blinds come in a huge range of blockout and light filtering fabrics as well as cell sizes (10mm and 20mm) and cell thicknesses (single/ double).

This operation means you can lower the blind from the top down allowing light and providing a view, while maintaining privacy. This is perfect for street facing windows, walkways, bathrooms or anywhere you need privacy in the lower section of your windows.

The Luxaflex duette blind and the Verosol pleated blinds are both great options for a skylight window. The Luxaflex skylight blind runs on side channels. The Verosol pleated blind has a silver reflective backing to reflect the heat and has fine wires for operation. We have both products on display in our showroom and both are available in manual or motorised options.

The Luxaflex duette blind provides very good blockout. There is only a 5mm gap from the end of the blind to where the fabric starts (which is about 5 times less than a roller blind!). If the slither of light down the side is still too much light for you the Duette LightLock Shades have been created to help you outsmart the sun and enjoy a better night’s sleep. They feature a unique U-Shaped side channel designed to absorb, deflect and block incoming light from seeping through into the room. LightLock blends seamlessly into the window frame preventing light leakage that is inherent with all reveal mounted blockout blinds and is a perfect solution for bedrooms, nurseries and media rooms, where maximum darkness is required.

Duette Shades are made of anti-static, dust-resistant fabric which repels dirt and dust. For most Duette fabrics, the following cleaning options are available.
Dusting: Regular light dusting with a feather duster is all the cleaning needed in most circumstances.
Vacuuming: For more thorough dust removal, vacuum gently with a brush attachment.
Compressed air/hair dryer (cool setting): Use compressed air or a hair dryer on a cool setting to blow dust and dirt off shades.
Do not vacuum Elan, Myst and Ménage translucent and blockout fabrics.
Do not spot clean Alexa, Elan, India Silk, Leela, Ménage and Aurora fabrics.
